Our community of internal trainers now brings together 223 members — and we believe this number is far from final. Developing expertise, sharing know-how, and building a strong internal learning network remain key priorities for us. This month, we are pleased to introduce our new internal trainer, Katka Šimková, who brings fresh energy, professionalism, and a passion for high-quality facilitation to the community.

Career journey: From communication to working with people

Katka joined us in 2018 as a Junior Project Manager. Later, in her roles as Quality Manager and Senior Project Manager, she focused extensively on communication activities and moderation. More than two years ago, she decided to leverage and further develop these experiences in her role as a Scrum Master. The knowledge she gained in public speaking — initially pursued in her free time and later applied professionally — she now enjoys sharing as an internal trainer.

New impulses in the training catalogue

Katka has expanded our training portfolio with the course Mastering Moderation – Confident & Engaging Online Facilitation. This interactive training focuses on developing moderation skills for both online and in-person events. It provides practical tools for leading discussions effectively, managing stress, and working with voice and non-verbal communication.

In addition, Katka organizes LEX sessions for colleagues in English, German, and occasionally Slovak. Topics such as improvisation and moderation help colleagues across Deutsche Telekom strengthen their presentation and facilitation skills in an international environment.

Discovery as a way of her working style

Katka describes her working day in one word — “discovery.” She sees her dream job as creative work with people, combining dynamism, purpose, and tangible results. What brings her the greatest satisfaction are the moments when team effort translates not only into achieved goals, but also into visible improvements in collaboration.  A true sense of fulfillment comes when she receives direct feedback that her work has made a difference — whether after an interactive LEX session, an internal training full of “AHA moments,” a well-crafted article with a clear message, or a successfully moderated event that achieved its objectives.

Living in the presence

When asked which period she would return to if she could travel through time, her answer is clear: “I try to live well here and now. I don’t want to go back to the past.”  That said, she happily returns to Italy — a country she admires for its lifestyle, language, culture, gastronomy, and atmosphere, which naturally resonate with her. And we can certainly understand why.

Energy Beyond Work

In her free time, Katka enjoys pilates and running. She is currently learning Italian and loves reading a good book. She also appreciates theatre and cinema. Her small — and openly admitted — guilty pleasure is high-quality dark chocolate (editor’s note: excellent taste).

Community as a Voluntary Network

For Katka, community means a voluntary group of people who share a common interest, actively develop it, and support one another. This very principle is at the heart of our internal trainers’ community — and we are delighted that Katka has joined us.
